I am not shocked by the lack of information available to the public; the automobile industry does the same thing anymore, as does many other industries. Money is made in service contracts, especially in preventative maintenance. One of the first things did to my camper was to tape up all the rough edges inside the ductwork and close off the dump by the cold air return to force the ducted air throughout instead of recycling from the return to the dump endlessly. It probably improved the AC system performance by about 15% overall- it was incredible. I clean the filter every single trip.

Selective “lies” at best. People do your homework and know what you can tow. Check your payload on the inside of your rig. Don’t go over it or get too close. PDI’s are not always done by the newest tech, in fact every PDI I’ve had done was by a certified tech. Lot rot is real and you should be aware of it. If an RV hasn’t been previously sold it has to be declared new. Always ask how long the rig has been on the lock. Verify with the DOT dates on the tires, should be within 3-6 months of when the RV was completed. Also, there should be on each RV a sticker showing when the rig was manufactured. Yes some salepeople aren’t honest. Also, some customers aren’t honest either. That trade in with no problems!!!! Do your homework, research and know what your are buying. Grow up and be a boss…..

People need to READ what they sign and not be rushed while doing it AND stop trusting everyone, especially, a sales person.

Dead on advice. We do some serious boondocking with our 26-foot trailer equipped with 12-inch pneumatic casters on the back. When traversing deep crossroad ruts and streams the tandems literally come off the ground and the trailer is suspended between the hitch and the rear casters. We have developed two towing configurations, On-road and Off-road. There are 14 changes made between the two. Change #4 is removal of the equalizer bars. Only takes a minute to do and using the bar tool allows the bars that are vertically miss-aligned to still be installed or removed. We have not re-enforced the frames and over the last 34 years and three trailers we have never experienced any frame cracks or bends. PS: for safety we use nylon straps holding the bars during the removal due to the potential energy stored when loaded.

Bought my first RV today from Camping World. Class A Forest River Georgetown 5 Series. Got the extended warranty pitch and this time with all the online comments about quality, I went for it. Hopefully its not a huge mistake but it seemed good to have the coach fully covered since my wife and I plan to rv full time for the next few years. Interested in feedback.😂

When you hire an independent inspector, you sign a contract. That contract states that the inspector is not responsible or liable for any items that they missed. There is a channel featuring a woman who exposes defective RVs and many problems were not found by the independent inspector that the buyers hired. Before I bought my RV, I learned what to look for, but I also made sure that the dealer understood that if I found one problem, the deal would be cancelled. Do not sign anything before a thorough inspection. I was fortunate to get a perfect RV.

There's one that's worse. The BAL Norco Exact Slide. Cables and chains and motors in the wall beside the slide.

I find it hard not to blame TT manufacturers for thin "light weight" frames. Its unrealistic to detach and reattach WD hitch every time you are on a ramp or going thrugh a construction zone. A boxed 1/4 inch frame would resolve this issues. And yes, understanding the limitations that come with towing a TT. But think of this - most (if not all) cargo or flat trailers have thicker frames. So why not a Travel Trailer? It comes down to TT comanies trying to save weight and money.

I think RV dealers should have better understanding and information on pickup to rv ratio. As well as proper weight distribution. I bought a RV in 2022 and bought a ProPride hitch before I picked it up. When I got to the dealer, they said that it was overkill and not needed. I told them I wasn’t leaving the lot without the proper equipment to hit the road safely. In my opinion, dealerships in general need to be overhauled. From purchasing, to servicing, and maintaining inventory.

What about installing air bag suspension under my SUV that would make it more horizontal to my camper?

I would love to see a review on the Starcraft Autumn Ridges. I recently purchased the 25TH as it was in my weight area, and my wife loved the back patio. But I do see some issues that are still getting taken care of. Had to have a thermal overload installed for the AC to work due to factory never installing one. AC never worked at all til I bought it. 😅

My tip on buying a used RV is don’t buy one and get into Rv-ing. I did it for two years and it was a lot of preparation, work, maintenance, repairs and expensive. Had to find a place to park it when not in use. Had problems during trips I had to fix, always something to do. Long travel times on the road. Not many positive things to say or remember, Just glad I experienced it when I was young and had the energy and not after I retired. It was a disappointment and I was happy to sell it and cut my losses. I have some pictures and memories but that’s about it. I went back to traveling by car or truck and staying in motels, much simpler, easier and happy again.

I-beams are strongest for verticle support (including flex) in that direction. They are not good at lateral support though but engineering two I-beam pin box supports tied together like a truss would give that lateral support and then they would have the forces managed in both directions without excessive weight and cost. The solution to this problem doesn't have to be complicated or costly, just the right brains making the right decisions. The concept of an RV 'structure' sharing the support of the frame like Lippert claims is BS. Those structures are simply not designed for that kind of stress so the frame itself should be. The RV manufacturers may submit their 'specs' but it is still on Lippert (and Lippert's liability) to have the final say whether that manufacturer spec ever sees the light of day.

If you slow your speed down, and understand it's not just the weight rating you also have wind resistance so you must buy the proper size truck do not be fooled by half ton towable😮

Why is a tankless water heater ‘bad news’ for boondockers? I have a Truma AquaGo Comfort+ (tankless water heater) and it’s amazing. It’s propane-only so the only electricity it consumes is operating the hot-water circuit pump. …and since it’s tankless, it heats-up in seconds, so I just turn it on and off as required.

No. If the A frame where the problem is,was stronger, either by heavier steel or braced in a proper manor. It would not break, bend or fail. Measuring to level truck and trailer when the hook up is done….and set the tension reasonable. Air pads on truck,if a half ton truck will also help. Many opines out here 👍🥳🤠 Thanks

A 300 lb. trailer does the worst "wagging" behind my GMC Sierra. Any size / weight of trailer can behave that way, unfortunately, depending on the hitch used and how the trailer is loaded.
